I got a rather interesting email from an onSMART reader, the names have been changed to protect the innocent and all that.
She writes, "I'd also like to tell anyone who is interested that last week my Smart
car saved my life. I had just filled up with petrol, and had started
to drive off. A warning beeper sounded. I stopped, and tried locking
and unlocking the car, as that usually does the trick. But as I tried
to drive away, the beeper sounded again. I ignored it, and as I drove
off, my scarf tightened around my neck and would have strangled me.
The intelligent little car knew that my scarf was stuck in the door
mechanism (hence the beeper) and had become entangled around the back
wheel."
Psychic smart? or perhaps the scarf meant the door didn't close properly in the lock so the beeper went off, but no matter, she's a very lucky person!
