Are smart car engines reliable?

The smart fortwo original engines (600cc) seem to have a life of around 60,000 miles, the 700cc are usually more reliable, and 999cc engines are more reliable still (made by mitsubishi). The forfour has a very reliable engine. As with all engines, your mileage may vary depending if you service your car on time (or before), and how you drive, and the length of your journeys.

Do smart cars have parcel shelves?

They don't as standard. However some higher end models such as Passion and Brabus do have them fitted as standard.

How does a smart car work?

The same as every other car, it's just the engines are small, the cars are light, so they have good MPG.

Smart cars economical?

It depends how you drive it. But yes, the older cars (600cc, 700cc and 800cc diesel) are very economical. The new 999cc engines however do not seem to be as economical as the 1st generation smarts (pre sept-07).

Smart for two sump plug?

Smart didn't deem a sump plug a neccessity, however you can buy one from some smart retailers.

What can cause heavy steering?

Usually on a smart car it's the universal joints in the steering column, these can be freed up using plusgas and kept in check with some motorcycle bike chain grease.

What does the orange engine light on a smart car fortwo car mean?

The engine check light means the ECU has found an error with one of the several sensors on the engine, you need to get your car plugged into an OBD II reader to get the engine fault codes to find out what to check.

What oil do i need to put into a smart car?

0w40, 5w40 or 10w40 depending on your climate (the colder it is, the closer to 0 you need) as long as you use fully synthetic.
